Documentary Video Production

As part of the Midwest and tornado alley, Iowa is no stranger to inclement weather. Storms can be devastating to communities, harming people and damaging property, landscapes, and infrastructure.

Iowa Living Roadway’s Community Visioning program helps rural communities create plans, apply for grants, and build infrastructure to better the lives of the people who live there. Things that sound as simple as a bike path, cross walk, or water runoff control aren’t actually all that easy to do, especially if you’re a small town with limited resources.

With a little bit of help from Community Visioning, Iowa’s small towns are able to do extraordinary things and can even be revived after devastating circumstances.

We’re honored to tell the stories of humble places, illuminating their beauty, and ordinary people who do truly heroic things.

Our documentary crew gathered stories from several of these communities across Iowa. From a production standpoint, it wasn’t easy. We battled rainy days and strong wind across our microphones, but it was apropos for the stories we were telling.
